The CD release party happened last Friday, and we saw a whole lot of you at the TARDIS Room. That night exceeded so many of our expectations, it’s hard to describe.
Despite just being back from a tour, the Doubleclicks fought through with the aid of a little whiskey and really delivered. A lot of songs I (Christian) hadn’t heard before – their songwriting is always improving. It was a happy, loose set that really set the tone for the night. We’re happy to be playing with them on two of their six Summer Of The Nerd shows here in Portland!
Our set was pretty good – we got to share new songs with everyone, and hit all the high points as well as some somber ones. Our pop-punk “Smile” was so much fun to play loud, and “Astronaut’s Hymn” is just beautiful. Hope that’s not bragging – I didn’t write either of them 🙂 The audience was tremendous – enthusiastic and supportive. It’s still a thrill to see people singing along to our music.
We had help from Aubrey Doubleclick and violinist Sunnie Larsen, who brought some much-needed class to several of our songs 🙂 Working on that string quartet, little by little! Beautiful work from both of them.
The Amazing Erin held court at the merch table for both bands – she’s done merch for Paul & Storm, too, so you know she knows what’s up. We had the new CD, downloads of the first album, release party posters, and stickers – so cool to have actual things for fans.
Thanks to Mick and Dave at the TARDIS Room for being great hosts for us. It’s always a treat to play there and hang out on the patio after the show, which we did for hours.
As Jessica mentioned from the stage that night, “Aim To Misbehave” was paid for entirely with proceeds from our shows and commissions, so it’s accurate to say that you made it happen. THANK YOU
