Somehow we scheduled ourselves a bunch of shows in August, but they were all amazing, and all different kinds. It’s been a great summer for the PDX Broadsides!
At Ardenwald Park in Milwaukie (‘the good land’) we closed out the Summer Concert Series before a great bunch of people, most of whom had never heard us play. There were kids all over, singing along with choruses and generally having fun. Funny story: owing to a miscommunication on our part, we showed up with one 45-minute set and found out we were doing two! Luckily we have a pretty deep reserve of songs, and it was no problem at all – we brought out some tunes that we hadn’t played in a while, like “Trust Issues” and “The Zombie Song (If I Die Young)”.
And of course we finished our big summer blast with the Nerd Spectacular at Mississippi Pizza. We asked our friends in Going Viral to join us, and then topped that cake off with some Barbara Holm comedy icing! Our first variety show, and it went wonderfully. Going Viral even joined us on stage for “Nathan Fillion”, which sounds pretty darn good with bass on it!
